Moving off Bubble and other no-code platforms

No-code tools get a lot of businesses to a working app. Some outgrow them. It gets slow, the bills climb, or you want something the tool can't do, and then you find out how much of your business lives inside someone else's platform. The same goes for a spreadsheet that has quietly become the database.

We start with an audit, fixed and agreed before we begin. A simple app costs £700. A larger one costs up to £1,400. It tells you whether to stay where you are, move or rebuild, with the reasons. If a rebuild is the answer, we quote it as a fixed price.

What it costs

Audit, simple app £700, fixed, agreed before we start
Audit, larger app Up to £1,400, fixed, agreed before we start
Rebuild Fixed price in the band that fits: Small £3,500 to £7,000, Medium £8,000 to £21,000, Large £22,000 to £45,500 (all indicative)

Who this is for

Owner-managers and heads of IT running a business on Bubble or another no-code platform, or on a spreadsheet or similar tool standing in for a proper back end, that they've outgrown or no longer trust. Also anyone who inherited one from an agency or freelancer who has moved on.

Who it isn't for

If you're deciding whether to build on a no-code tool in the first place, our post on no-code lock-in is a better start. If your app is working and you're comfortable where it is, you don't need us, and we won't pretend otherwise.

What the audit tells you

On a no-code app the audit is lighter than the one for code, because there's no code to read. We review how the app is put together and where its limits are: what's in it and how it hangs together, what it would take to leave and what you'd lose, what can be kept and what needs rebuilding, and whether staying is the cheaper answer. The report is yours, and works whether or not you hire us.

How it works

  1. Tell us what's wrong. A free discovery call. Which tool, what it does, what's stopped working.
  2. We agree the audit. We look at how big the app is, tell you the price and agree it before we begin. We ask for view-only access to your app's editor, and a walkthrough of it on a test account.
  3. Written report. Stay, move or rebuild, with the reason. We aim to send it within 5 working days of getting full access.
  4. You decide. If you rebuild with us, we quote a fixed price from the report.
  5. Build, and handover. You own the code, in your own repository under your name, with a clean, documented handover. Ongoing support is optional and priced on our Pricing page. Moving your data is quoted separately.

Questions people ask

Can I export my app from a no-code platform?

It depends on the platform. In the audit we tell you what you can take with you and what you can't.

How much does it cost to move off a no-code platform?

The audit comes first. A simple app costs £700 and a larger one up to £1,400, fixed and agreed before we start. A rebuild is then quoted as a fixed price in the band that fits: Small at £3,500 to £7,000, Medium at £8,000 to £21,000 or Large at £22,000 to £45,500, all indicative. How much of the app we need to rebuild decides which.

Do I have to move?

No. Sometimes the right answer is to stay, and we'll say so. We'd rather you didn't pay for a rebuild you don't need.

Which platforms do you work with?

Bubble and other mainstream no-code tools. If yours is something unusual, tell us on the discovery call and we'll say plainly whether it's outside what we can audit.

Will my users lose their data?

Moving your data across is scoped and quoted separately from the rebuild, because what we can take depends on what your platform lets us export. The audit tells you what can be moved and how.

What would you build it in?

A new build starts from our own kits: Uptick Grid for websites and web platforms, Uptick Glass for iOS and Android apps. The rest is chosen to suit your app, and the audit report says what and why.
